THE NERETVA PEARL – MODRO OKO (BLUE EYE)

Blue Eye is a natural gem located in the heart of the Neretva Valley between the towns of Desna and Banja. This unique spring, known for its crystal clear water and intense blue color, is one of the most special places you can visit during your stay in this area. Blue Eye is formed from a powerful underground spring that erupts to the surface, creating a small but extremely picturesque pool surrounded by greenery and peaceful nature. It lies in a sinkhole, at sea level; up to 18.3 m deep. It is connected to Lake Desna (Jezero) by a channel about 350 m long and 3.5 m wide.

The water is extremely cold and clear, and its color changes depending on the position of the sun, which creates scenes that delight photographers and nature lovers. The depth of the spring has not been fully explored, which gives it an additional dose of mysticism and attraction. Locals often describe it as the “eye of nature” that watches over the valley. A short, pleasant walk leads to Blue Eye, suitable for all ages.
